I was diagnosed with having fibrosystic breasts and noticed an unusual lump in my left breast. After removal, biopsy results were "fibrosistic change with adinosis and fibrosis."
I would appreciate further explanation on this if anyone knows. All I was told by my Dr. is that I have nothing to worry about but I recently discovered a slight bloody discharge from that same breast on two separate occasions after sqeezing the nipple. The discharge came from two different locations on the nipple each time and it doesn't happen all the time. I am 33 and the mother of one.
thx
fibrocystic breast condition affects the breast, but not other parts of the body. So it would not be associated with other things such as weight gain. It's possible that rapid weight gain which caused the breasts to enlarge could cause the breasts to hurt: pain is also associated with fibrocystic breast condition, so the diagnosis could be confused. Women with fibrocystic breasts, if they have symptoms, usually notice breast tenderness and pain, especially before their periods, and lumpiness and cyst formation.
Dear Alacia: The only potential problem with fibrocystic breasts is that the density of the tissue can make mammograms difficult to interpret. Fibrocystic breasts can also make self breast exam more difficult because the breasts feel more "lumpy."
