Dear country08: It is not unusual to be called back for a second mammogram – usually for spot compression (a mammogram that focuses in on an area that may look abnormal to the radiologist). Many times, this may turn out to be as simple as tissue folding over on itself and this will resolve with compression. An ultrasound may also be ordered – especially in women with dense breast tissue – to differentiate a solid structure from a fluid filled structure, such as a cyst.
I had a second mammagram, have cacifications in left breast, have to have biopsy, Dr. said no clusters, is this good?? Needle biopsy, or under anesthetic, which is best?? I am so scared. I am 67 yrs. old, do I have a chance?
