just had lumpectomy & need another same spot asap

i had a lumpectomy last friday (DIC) and was told yesterday that they didn't get it all and need to do another to remove more. i'm large breasted and i was given the option of a mastectomy, which will be the next step if they don't get it all this time. i was upgraded from stage one to two. are there any reasons that i should worry that the cancer is spreading quickly through my body right now since they cut into the cancerous lump but did not stay within clean margins? my lymph nodes were clean and they only removed one sentinal node. it was the pathology report post-surgery that determined this info. thanks for any info

Dear baburabe:  There is no evidence to support that a lumpectomy with positive margins will result in any spread of disease.  When positive margins are seen, it is standard practice to remove additional tissue in order to be certain all cancer is removed prior to proceeding with further therapy.
