Ultrasound results

I finally got the ultrasound results, Please help me understand it. (I'm 27 ) "at the site of the palpable lesion at the 4 O'clock position in the right breast is an oval well cirumscribed wider than tall hypoechoic nodule which is mildly lobulated measuring 2.5x1.3x2.4cm. Smaller similar nodule is seen at 9 O'clock measuring 7x4x6mm. I would recommend that a percutaneous ultrasound guided needle biopsy of the lesion at 4 O'clock be obtained to prove the diagnosis. It may represent a fibroadenoma, but a phyllodes tumor would have to be considered in the diffirential diagnosis".

From what i have been reading, all the ultrasound findings are the same fibroadenoma characteristics. Why does the radiologist is also considering Phyllodes tumor. What's suspicious in the result report? I have a biopsy scheduled in few days and I am a nervous wreck.. please help me better understand those results.

Dear hallina:  A fibroadenoma and phyllodes tumor may look similar on ultrasound.  When radiologists interpret films, they often list every possible diagnosis that could be considered.  This is called the differential diagnosis.  It does not necessarily mean there is suspicion of one over another.

Breast problems are very nerve-wracking. You're not alone. Just remember a very high percentage of breast biopsies are benign. Fibroadenomas are benign, and  phyllodes tumors are rare and usually benign. Did the lump seem to appear over a very short period of time? If so, that might be why they say it could be a phyllodes tumor. I hope your biopsy goes well.
