Age doesnt mean anything. I am 20 years old and have breast cancer, and know hundreds of young ladies that also have been diognosed. Although it is rare, it happens and is not something that should be overlooked because of age. I went to four doctors (obgy 1&2, breast surgeon, family doctor) who all said that the lump was nothing even after the ultrasound. It persisted and grew and I insisted it be removed. They saw it was cancer when they took it out. The doctors who insisited that it wasnt cancer because of my age could have cost me my life. Be your own advicate if you feel it could be something bad, because if you do nothing the doctors surely wont either.

Dear nel16: Breast cancer is very uncommon in women who are 21 years old. Also, because we often mention that most breast cancer is not painful, the opposite (if the lump is painless, then it must be cancer) is not a true conclusion. Without review of the ultrasound, we cannot draw any conclusions about the area of concern. In the report that you included, I don’t see that they have defined what they believe the “hypoechoic area” to be. You might consider another discussion with your doctor regarding this area. If you remain concerned, a second opinion (with a breast specialist) is certainly an option.
