please help!!!!

i m 21 years old and breast cancer runs in my family ..a lump is there in my left axilla since last 4 months..the lump is not painful. After a month of first feeling of lump i had an ultra sound done. i was taking antibiotic (amoxil) for a week (recommended by my family doctor). the ultra sound report (done almost 3 months back)  is as under

"a small hypoechoic area is seen within the subcutaneous area of the left axilla measuring 10.2x10.9x4.2mm. No cystic area is seen within this on in the deeper layer. A lymph node is seen close to the lesion measuring 12.3x3.7mm with intact hilum. No other abnormality seen in the left axilla."

the doc said that every thing is fine and  needs no further tests. But its kinda depressing thinking that its still not gone  ..I dont feel an increase in the lump neither a decrease. Is a biopsy suggested as i have a strong family history of  breast cancer (including mother).

i have read other posts of cases like mine n it seems that lumps that dont pain or hurt are most suspicious than otherwise..please help.. m more worried now as it doesnot pain at all n neither was there ever any symptom of cellulitis .the lump is non painful and non irritating ever since its there...what should i do ..the lump is like a hard tiny ball that i can feel .. should i take a second opinion from a surgeon ..is an ultrasound reliable enough for the diagnosis of cancer

Age doesnt mean anything.  I am 20 years old and have breast cancer, and know hundreds of young ladies that also have been diognosed. Although it is rare, it happens and is not something that should be overlooked because of age.  I went to four doctors (obgy 1&2, breast surgeon, family doctor) who all said that the lump was nothing even after the ultrasound.  It persisted and grew and I insisted it be removed.  They saw it was cancer when they took it out.  The doctors who insisited that it wasnt cancer because of my age could have cost me my life.  Be your own advicate if you feel it could be something bad, because if you do nothing the doctors surely wont either.

Dear nel16:  Breast cancer is very uncommon in women who are 21 years old.  Also, because we often mention that most breast cancer is not painful, the opposite (if the lump is painless, then it must be cancer) is not a true conclusion.  Without review of the ultrasound, we cannot draw any conclusions about the area of concern.  In the report that you included, I don’t see that they have defined what they believe the “hypoechoic area” to be.  You might consider another discussion with your doctor regarding this area.  If you remain concerned, a second opinion (with a breast specialist) is certainly an option.
