preventive meds

I had stage one breast cancer...doctor performed a lumpectomy on my breast...then i had 33 weeks of radiation...the doctor wanted to put me on tamoxifen but because i have a prothrombin gene it was a no go...then she spoke to other doctors about taking arimidex but all concluded it was too risky...so now i had my first mamo (that was a painful experience after surgery) and says it shows an area to be benign ...but i'm a little nervous about it all since i always read about everyone taking some kind of precautions...even when they had stage 0-1 like i had...do you have any suggestions of what other meds i could be taking...thank you for listening...susie

There is I3 C and DIM that would interfer with tumor growth should a new one come along. Both are natural derivitives of broccoli/ cauliflower type food. As a result, no side effects. I get mine from Life Extension. I would also recommend some vegatable powders to alkalyze the system as you rebuild your immune system this will prevent recurrance.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Susie:  As with all medicine, benefits must always be considered along with risks and a decision made as to the best course of action.  If you are premenopausal and the tumor is estrogen receptor positive, consideration could be made to remove the estrogen produced by the ovaries (either with surgery or with medication).  You should discuss this with your physician who can discuss whether this would be a consideration in your situation.
