What is this pain in my armpits?

I'm 23, married, have never had a child, and am on the pill.  I have recently been having consistant, tenderness and pain to the touch in my armpits, being worse in my right armpit.  The pain  hurts more when I stretch/move my arms a lot so as to stretch my armpit, but hurts worse to the touch, and is very specific and tender.  The pain is only in my armpits, nowhere else.  Can someone please help me. Thanks.

Dear Jivy, Your pain can be due to many things and would be evaluated based on the description, location, when it started,  accompanying symptoms (any rash, lumps?), associated with any other activity, as well as physical examination.  It is impossible to evaluate over the internet - check with your health care professional - they can evaluate this with you.

One possibility is ectopic breast tissue, which means islands of breast tissue outside the actual breast. It's not rare; they would have been there from birth, but they can enlarge and hurt later in life. They're not dangerous; it's ok to leave them alone unless they cause enough symptoms to warrant removal. As was said above, the only way to diagnose is by seeing your doctor.
