I wrote this article awhile back and have it in my journal too, I wanted to share, it sort of goes with my post about losing or not losing your salvation. I hope you like it.
The Meaning Of Salvation
In the book of John 3:16, he tells us that "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that Whosoever believed, would not perish, but have everlasting life." Praise the Lord that is my favorite bible verse, it is so comforting. You see, being saved means being saved from our own, dirty, sinful ways into a new and glorious life with our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are dead to our old ways and "born again"if you will, into a new life. Our old self is dead, and our new life is fresh and new and cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. We are literally grabbed away from the gates of Hell. Salvation is NOT earned nor is it obtained by ANY works. Our works are as filthy rags, and they mean nothing to our Lord unless we are saved. After we are saved, however, it is very important to demonstrate our love for the Lord through good works. If you love someone, you naturally want to do things for them, and our works are examples of our love for our beloved Saviour. Those that think they can "earn" salvation are very misled. Our Lord wants us to put our trust entirely in Him and to "accept" His free gift, period. That is all there is to it, it is so easy, that lots of folks just do not get it. It is like this, at Christmas time, all the presents under the tree are given freely to the recipient, none are left, well, likewise, the gift of salvation is a gift, and it is given freely to the recipient, all we need to do is reach out our hands and accept. Also, we NEVER loose our salvation once we are saved, NOTHING can take us away from our Lord, NOTHING. Contrary to the belief of some faiths, where they say you can loose it, you can NOT. The Lord is not an Indian giver. Yes, He will chastise His children when they misbehave, but, any good father will do that. Even then, He does it in a loving manner, a manner, I feel, that teaches us to do better for His sake. No matter what we do, it must always be for His sake. The minute a sinner says a form of the sinner's prayer, they are forgiven, bang, just like that. All of his sins are washed away to be remembered no more. However, you must truly mean what you pray in your heart, our Lord knows if you are sincere or not, and if not, they will be just "words" What a wonderful and awesome Father we have, I could just cry at times because He is so terrific. As it states in the bible, when we die, we are absent from the body and present with the Lord, it is just that fast. We do not spend even a second in the grave, just our bodies, but, our souls go directly to our loving Father who is ready to greet us with open arms. PRAISE THE LORD, HALLELUJAH!!!!!!
For those that are saved, this is good news, but, for those that are not saved, it is deadly news and they too will go somewhere, and it will NOT be to the Lord, they will spend eternity in Hell and no amount of pleas will ever change that. There is no in between, you are either going to go to Glory Land or to torment. Oh how I hurt for those that are too proud to ask for God's wonderful gift, they just will NOT ask, or, they think they can do it anytime they wish. Dear ones, there may not be another chance, the Lord controls every second of our life, it is a gift, and to assume that you can ask for forgiveness sometime down the road is fool-hearty. He is waiting for the sinner with out stretched, loving arms. It is so simple and so beautiful.
Baptism does NOT save you either, however, after you are saved, it is God's desire that you become baptized, and I feel the best way is by immersion. You see, as you go under the water, you are dying to your sins with the Lord, when you rise up, you are rising up to a new life, as our Lord did on Easter Sunday, it is an awesome and humbling experience. To not do this, is in direct disobedience to our Lord, it is an outward sign of our salvation.
"Salvation" What a wonderful word, and what a wonderful gift God has made available to us. Let's all accept it before it is too late.
For those reading this that are not yet saved, here is how you can receive Christ: (This was taken from the words of a local church)
1. Admit your need (I am a sinner)
2. Be willing to turn from your sins after salvation.
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior)
How to pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have sinned before You, but I receive Jesus' substitutionary death on the cross as payment-in-full for my sin debt. I believe He rose from the dead, and I trust Him as my Savior. Thank You for forgiving me, for making me a new person, and for including me in Your family. Amen and Amen
God's Assurance: His Word
If you prayed this prayer, the bible says this:
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13.
Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth." This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should do the following:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
May the Lord bless you always.
Love and hugs
Susie
