No medications no antibiotics. I have severe allergies to nickel this ear has been left alone for my whole life when it comes to anything. I just have my ear and this happened.
It never did pus although it got so big at one point I was certain it was inevetable.
My ear has been healing on its own every day since my first post so much that only now(today) I would say it is a dramatic improvement. I would say 75% less swollen since first post.
Spider bite? Ruptured cyst? Unknown infection? I don't know.
Still slightly swollen but no tenderness unless I press it forcefully. A Thick liquidity type feel.
Previous ball is sometimes there, sometimes not....
Hi,
Have you taken any medications to reduce the swelling? Any antibiotics perhaps?
Has the medications helped reduce the swelling?
Do you have any allergies with cologne, metals, jewelry?
Do you have your ear pierced prior to the swelling?
The pain that you feel in your back and jawline seems to be referred pain from the swelling you have mentioned.
Does the swelling drain any discharge? If yes, what is the character?
This sounds like an infectious process that has not been clearly resolved .Certain skin infections ( boils) may present as reddish nodular lesions that are red and tender and may eventually drain pus.As a skin infection , this may be readily ruled out during a physical examination.
Have you consulted with a physician regarding this?
It was painful to the touch but that has stopped and the swelling has gone down greatly. Since the swelling has gone down I realized that the bump is still there but it is different than before, softer, as if flattened. For a while pain started to go down my a small part of my back jaw inline with my ear. A lymp node has since swollen on my back jaw as well. All of this is has occurred on the part of the ear where one usually gets pierced.
Hi,
I have a few questions:
How large is this bump ( if you can measure by centimeters)?
Is this located in the outer ear where you can still reach it?
Is this painful to touch, reddish, with any discharge?
How is your hearing?
Any palpable mass in the body?
Any eye or discharge from the nose?
Any fever?
Any ringing or pulsating sound in the ear?
A bump in the ear may be caused by infections that may lead to swelling and pain.Yet an infectious cause seems unlikely in your case since this has been present for the past ten years. However, its recent increase in size may warrant further investigation. I suggest you seek consult with an otorhinolaryngologist (Eear Nose and Throat ) specialist for complete examination.
Best of luck!
