Armpit & Neck node Pain for 8 months

After returning from Iraq last year I was very sick and had flu-like symtoms for several onths with an overall weakened immune system and some very weird symptoms. Rashes on my chest, neck, night sweats, weak, tonge has soars, neorological symptoms diagnosed benign action tremor, painful and inflamed nodes in neck, armpit, and groin. These symptoms went on and did not happen at once but more of a progrssion. Now after one year I am left with soarness on right side, mainly flank, back, armpit, occasional night sweats I went to the my promary doctor who sent me to infectious disease, neurology, rheumatology, and eventually hematology.

My concern was ultimately cancer because my overall immune system felt so weakened and the areas that hurt are where there are heavy concentraions of lymph nodes as well as the night sweats, strange weakened imune system starting getting weird rashes, on my body, my tongue and mouth had weird soares etc. I had 3 sets of CT scans because the first set showed that my spleen was slightly enlarged and had 1 spot on it, lungs pleura had several spots and some thickening. Next set of CT scans said no change in these areas. The last set that was only my chest, and pelvis, agdomen showed one more spot on my liver but no other changes. The radiologist stated that there was no appreciable change in the structures found so it is said to be stable after 10 minths of scans.

All this time my left side was killing me, i.e. flank, upper rib area, and back. I have had 3 sets of CT scans, 3 MRI brain, neck, arm, and shoulder, both with contrast. I also had a coloscopy because of blood in stool which was clean as a whistle. I am very confused because I still have occasional night sweates, and now my left armpit is starting to get soar the same way the right armpit did. I did have a high titer for Epstein Bar virus last year and it was felt that I might of had a viral infection when I got home last year to aacount for the flu like symptoms but its been one year and my nodes in my neck and armpits still hurt with no explanation. I am considering going to afghanistan shortly for work but My concern is Lymphoma? Any help would be much appreciated.

Sage,

Thank You for your comment not sure but the problems have been going on for about 11 months now. I think that might be too long for typhoid but will reasearch. Thank You.

Hello, this may be just a shot in the dark but is it possible you may have typhoid fever?
You said you were in Iraq not sure about the timeline but your symptoms sound like you may have contracted some thing from contaminated food or water. ( salmanella) Google Wikipedia and put typhoid fever in the search box.  The symptoms are pretty similiar.  Hope you get some answers.
