Can one use Aleve (similar) for pain when on Chemo?

If one is taking chemotherapy to combat cancerous lung nodules can they take Aleve (or similar) pain relief for joint/spin pain not related cancer?

I understand the harshness of Aleve and aspirin on stomach and as a minimum one needs to take these medications with food, at least a few oz of milk.

Met with Oncologist today for Chemo treatment. He said no problem taking Aleve (or similar) for pain when on Chemo.  Of course you stomach may not like this harsh a medication - taking with food is the best practice.
