Constant Pain in kidney area... not sure what to do...

This is long sorry but in serious need of some advice and answers. I am 41 yr female. In Nov. 2008 started experiencing some pressure when urinating. No pain or burning, just pressure. For a week I felt as though I was getting flu. That weekend I started running extremely high fever and started having extremely severe hematuria. Went to dr and was told it was UTI. Took antibiotics and after another week didn't see blood any longer. But to be honest I haven't felt the same since. About 1 1/2 yrs later went to dr for something else and was told there was blood in urine. Again was told UTI. Still no burning, no pain. Ended up taking antibiotics SEVERAL times then and still blood and still UTI. Finally was referred to Urologist. They continued to treat me for UTI. But ran test. I had started having bad pain in left kidney area. Finally after several months urologist sent me for abdominal CT Scan. It showed 6mm lesion cyst. When I asked what that was I was told that they couldn't tell if it was a lesion or cyst and that I shouldn't worry but come back in 6 months for another CT scan to see if it had gotten larger and if it did would have biopsy. Well insurance change caused me to not be able to see that urologist. My questions are..How was this a UTI with such severe hematuria but not have any burning or pain when urinating? And.... what are the statistics on lesions and cyst on kidneys turning out to be cancer? As I have felt different since this all started, fatigue, have no energy, etc.

Hi,
How are you? What other symptoms are present? Urinary tract infection may be asymptomatic and may present with different symptoms. Dysuria  or pain while urinating may not be present. Aside from urinary tract infection, hematuria  may be attributed to kidney infections,  bladder or kidney stone, enlarged prostate, kidney disease, kidney injury, medications, strenuous exercise, and possible malignancy. You may benefit from additional diagnostic tests as well as seeking another opinion to ease any worry. Take care and do keep us posted.

Have had a general ill feeling every since. No energy fatigue all the time. When I say I had severe gross hematuria when this all started I mean it looked like a person had cut themselves and put it in cup. very dark purple. Have no pain in lower part of abdomen nor any pain or burning. but in 2008 when this started I was running temp over 105. Noticed that pain is persistent in left kidney area. But is worse if drink soda, etc. Thanks. Any advice much appreciated. The 6mm lesion or cyst couldn't cause this could it? The urologist that found it said he doesn't know if it is a cyst or lesion. And one more question... what are percentage of possibility that it could be cancer if it is a lesion? thanks again
