unusual lump on rib

I have a lump on my last left rib. It has been causing some pain and nerve and/or muscle twitching in that area. I am worried about it and cannot find any answers on your website, just others with similar situations. Can you give me any insights into what this may be?

Thank-you for your comment and good thoughts.  The x-ray showed an "abnormality" on my rib and I am having a CT scan and a pulmonary function test on the 16th. I have a lot a shortness of breath and chest pains. My x-ray showed COPD but I guess x-rays are not used as a diagnostic tool for COPD these days. I am a smoker and pray I have not waited too long to quit.               Thanks again!

Cancer isn't usually painful.  Sounds like you might have pulled a muscle.
If its growing, doesn't go away in time or you are still concerned..see a doctor.
Best to You
