Don't know what it is...

On December 2003 I feel down the stairs.  The back of my right thigh was bruised.  I didn't go to the doctor because I didn't feel the need to do so.  For the past 2 months I experience pain the same area on an on and off basis.  I can sit at work and suddenly get the pain.  I also feel pain on my right foot whenever my thigh hurts and it feels as if the foot is going numb.  I've been told bruises can cause cancer.  No one in my family has or has had cancer.  Is this something I sould be concerned about?

Hi,
You probably need further investigations to ascertain the cause of your symptoms. An orthopedic consultation is advisable.

Thanks for the response.  I don't have lower back pain.  I do get upper back pain which is uncommon for what I've been told.

Hi,

You probably need to get an orthopedic consultation and undergo investigations for the pain and numbness. Your decription seems to suggest that this may be a neuropathic pain and the possible causes could arise in the hip or in the lower spine. Do you have low backache too? Systemic cause of neuropathy include diabetes, smoking etc and these need to be addressed accordingly. Bruises do not cause cancer.
