Is it cancer?

Hi. I am a 17 year old male. For about the past 2 years I have had a mass in what i assume are my left inguinal lymph nodes. I never really thought much of it until just recently. Anyway, I have started to get really scared that it might be lymphoma. I have scheduled a doc appt but its not until late this coming week. So I was hoping someone could help to answer a few questions.

First of all, the mass is rather hard (I have read that this indicates cancer more times than not). The really weird thing is that it comes and goes. Sometimes it is prominent while other times it is just not there at all. Also, sometiems it is a few rounded masses while other times it is more like one tube-like mass.

Now that I have gone through all of that, my question. Is what I described necessarily cancer or is there a possiblity that it is something else. Is it common for lymphoma cancers to come and go constantly?

Someone PLEASE respond because i'm going out of my mind just wondering! I hope someone can help me!

it may not be because of producing too much estrogen since u probably already went through puberty. it could be a calcium deposit

thanks... I will be sure to let you know! And thanks so much for you posts! I really kind of needed something to i guess pretend it is until i hear the word cancer. As long as I can psychologically convince myself that it isn't cancer until any official diagnosis, I think I can maintain my sanity. Thinking you have a life-threatining disease but not being able to confirm is a terrible experience!

THANKS AGAIN! and I will let you know :)

My opnion is if you have cancer it grows it doesn't come and go. It could be a benign condtions. Got to the doctors let them know so you will feel better. I really don't think cancer comes and go. That is my guess!!

yah, the mass actually comes and then goes away. Like it is non existant. but then its back later. and i mean, this happens CONSTANTLY... i mean, every time i check (I tend to obsess...) it changes... At this point, im holding onto the fact that it does change as my hope of not having cancer... What do you think?
