Myomatous Uterus

Myomatous Uterus

I had Transabdominal Pelvic US done on 03/27/08. Results stated that myomatous uterus measuring 9.5 x 5.14 x 6.4 cm with a fundal myoma measuring 3.5 cm. The endometrial canal is empty measuring 1.13 cm. The Rt Ovary is not identified and LT Ovary measures 2.5 x 1.65 cm. There are no Adnexal masses or fluid within the Cul De Sac.
The Final Impression: Myomatous Uterus
I don't have any s/sx except slight discomfort after exercises on the lower abdominal area and no bleeding except only menstrual period. I'm 51 years old and with regular menstrual period until last months seems it stopped. But the problem every time I have my period(before/during/after) I have chest pain with SOB on exertions. All cardiac tests are normal and Lungs clear but I have this chest pain with mild SOB only on exertion including back pain. I had Spiral Ct Scan of the lungs done yesterday with no results yet. What is this Pelvic US result means and why I have s/sx on my chest on my menstrual period and seems the chest pain/pressure getting worst for my upcoming menopausal stage?

Hi.

You are peri-menopausal, and a recent ultrasound has detected a fibroid ("myoma") in the body ("fundal") of the uterus. The fibroid measures 3.5 cm. The rest of the ultrasound report basically states that there is no mass on the sides of the uterus ("no adnexal mass"), and that there is no abnormal fluid collection in the pelvis ("cul-de-sac").

The inference is that there is no radiological evidence of ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, and cervical cancer.

Pl consult your gynecologist, and discuss the preferred approach to treatment. The fibroid is not causing pain or bleeding. You are perimenopausal. These are two important facts which will impact the final treatment decision.

Pl post the report of the chest CT after you obtain it.

Good luck!
