Port Access Question

I have a dual-lumen port; and I get infusions every day. The policy of the infusion center is to access the port and de-access it once a week, watching it carefully to make sure it's okay. I get infusions every day - 5 days a week, and for some reason my doctor wants me accessed and de-accessed -every day-; The nurses in the infusion center think this is very inappropriate due to infection risk, and this is my 2nd port as the last one was basically destroyed by Candida and Staph. So what are your opinions? Accessing/deaccessing 5 days a week is okay? Or figure out a way to get it to just once like every single other patient.

I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this. When you bring up your concerns to your doctor, how does he response? Sure sounds legitimate to me. you can't afford infections.

I haven't spoken with him directly about it; I had a long conversation with his nurse and she was to get back to me this morning but didn't, and I called this afternoon and everyone left as we're getting another big snow-storm here.
