Hello

After 7 months of testing my father was diagnosed with kidney cancer (even though he presented the classic triad for all of that time). He had surgery and they removed his kidney and some lymph nodes surrounding it. It was found that he had transitional cell carcinoma.  After surgery within one month he was found to have another tumor in his lymph nodes and it was about 2 inches. They started him on an aggressive chemotherapy treatment instead of surgery again. He has just finished treatment and results have found the tumor to be less then half of the original size. He is now waiting to hear what the next move is in the beginning of February. He finished his chemo last week and does not seem to be bouncing back like he usually does. A nurse recommended that he see our family doctor about possibly having a hydration done. My father has been complaining about tightness in his chest when he does strenuous exercise and becomes very tired. After he takes a break for a while he is ready to go again, but once again becomes fatigued quickly. Our family doctor is now sending him for a stress test to test for possible signs of Angina. Is Angina a possible side effect from chemo?  I know they test his blood before every chemo treatment but is it possible that this is just anemia? I am assuming that they won’t be able to do surgery for 3 months if it is angina, if at all.  With his current tumor the doctors have said that it is possible that this is just scar tissue. Is it normal to have scar tissue about the size of an inch from a two-inch tumor?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hi.  Liver cirrhosis can increase the risk of liver cancer, but this condition does not seem to have any association with kidney cancer.
