Painful head lump

Hello, I'm concerned about a little lump on my dad's head. It is located on the left upper side of his head and he says it hurts, he ignores whence it appeared as he started to complain about it less than a week ago. He doesn't present any other symptom or nuisance that could possibly be related to the lump other than a chronic pain as he states it has been bothering him for a couple of days now. He says he hasn't hit his head or anything like that. Besides, he says it has a soft feel rather than a solid one. I'd appreaciate any input from the community. Thanks in advance.
