what the doc isn't telling me

my father has rectal cancer in the 4th stage advanced. he was diagnosed  8 months ago after years of them saying it was a hemroid ..any way  when he was first tested his cancer makers  were at 182 , and the cancer has spread to  his liver both lungs intestine   and spine . yesterday they told him his makers came back at 66 so he has had a large improvement i am guessing  ...this is what i need to know ..at his stage in cancer what are the percentages  the doc  told us 12% last 5 years and another say 6 months

now they have given him a colostomy bag and said it wasn't posible any more for them to reverse it and they were going to sew his rectum shut  and use muscle from his leg to fix it

i just need some one to talk real with me  no b/s

I am so sorry to here what you, and your family, is going through.  Here is an article that has some statistics in it regarding rectal cancer that you may find useful.

The brain scan is to see if the cancer has metathesized to the brain which, unfortunately, can happen in end stage cancer patients.
