Will the ER do a colonoscopy?

I have been in serious pain in my lower back that radiates around to the left side.  I have also notice blood in my stools lately, not much and not often, but enough to scare me.  I am in so much pain I can barely get up and down or bend.  I was wondering if I went to the ER, could they find out or would they attempt to find out what is wrong with me?  I am pretty certain it has to do with my intestines.

Thank you so much for your response.  That's exactly what I needed to know.  I didn't want to go to the ER and suffer when I could be suffering at home.  If they could've done a colonoscopy, that would be one thing.  But just to send me home and tell me to follow up with a gastro guy, would've been a waste of time and money.  Thank you kindly for taking the time to try and help me.

The ER will not be able to a colonoscopy right away, as you have to have a clean bowel - usually done the evening before the procedure, as you need to stay near a toilet. I would imagine you will have to see a gastro before having this procedure. It is not without risks and the ER will probably not have a gastro in there and will make a referral.
Good luck.
