my mom has terminal cander. the doctors are slow with pain kilers. what should i do?

My Mother has termianl caner. It shouldn't be but that's a different story.
I was at the hospital tonight and called on the nurses thing that " MY moms in a lot of pain. I need someone here now" nobody came. I was surprised because it's a good hospital.
Well she felt beter after throwing up the pain killer they gave her. She was still looking bad.
They said they were going to to call the doctor so she could get a pain killer in her IV. when I left I made it a point that that they need to contact the doctor and get an OK for the IV pain killer. They said they were going to call the doctoer again "RIGHT NOW" to get approval.
This is 3 hours later. I have some pain killers from my previous expirences. Should I crush them and let her snort them. The hospital has not gotten back with me. It was horrible to see my mother in pain. I don't care if I go to jail. I want her to be as comfortable as possible.
Do you think snorting them is any worse then just taking them?

Hello, Tacoma
I hope things are under control by now.  The advise Dianne0618 gave you is excatly what I was thinking plus requesting Morphine Patches.  My mom is also under hospice care for terminal cancer and these patches seem to keep her comfortable.  I hope you got the help you needed.

You can get your mother admitted to a Hospice program, even while she is in the hospital.  The Hospice staff can advicate for your mother getting her the pain medication she needs quicker.  Ask the discharge planner or social worker at the hospital how you can contact your local Hospice.  They specialize in pain management and should not rest until your mother is made comfortable.  They will advocate for her so you can spend time just being her daughter.

Hi.
Sorry to hear about your situation.
It would be best to talk to your mom's doctor personally. There are specialists specifically rendering pain relief services for cancer patients. It is very important that complete pain relief is offered specially to cancer patients.

As being someone that has gone through cancer treatment and possibility may go through it again. I would go straight to the Dr if your moms Dr is not willing to relieve her of pain I would think about a new Dr. This is not the time for a dr to measure the mind over matters situation when it comes to pain. The cancer is hard enough to deal with. Find out what time the Dr makes his or her rounds and be there and stand your ground. Hope this helps. And my thoughts are with your mom

Greetings Tacoma, I'm sorry to hear about your situation.  I am not a Doctor, Nurse, med student nor to I claim to practice medicine. I have been consulting with my nutritionist and have been made privy to some outstanding information within the last few years.  Seek and you surely will find, because there are wellness remedies that can rid a person's body of any Dis-ease or ailment.
Do some research, stay positive and may God Bless you and your mom.
