surgery after effects

three years ago my wife had to have a cancerous left kidney removed and at the time they removed a  rib as well,at the time we just assumed it would be pinned back in afterwards but wasn't.
now she experiences daily pain and uncomfortableness from the inch or so they left and she feels things 'catching' on it.
is it possible to have an artificial rib bone made and fitted to replace the original one that was removed.? so she can re-gain full movement and a better quality of life with less pain?
any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.  It might be possible to do reconstructive surgery on the defect left by the previous operation.  You need to consult with a plastic surgeon for this.  In the meantime, I think you should be having maintenance pain medications.  If you are already seeing an oncologist, please follow up with him and tell him about your chronic pain problem, so you can be given the appropriate medication.
