Hi Mom,
I love Jackson Galaxy. Even have his book! I am assuming by tough love you mean closed off the bedroom at night to their cat? Did not want to do this if there was another alternative.
So maybe I will try the separate bed first and if that does not work I may have to resort to the tough love thing.
She has even resorted to hovering over my husband with a paw out as if to say: See this? in 1 minute I am starting on him. Then she has me, because my husband has Never wanted me to start with her in our bed to begin with. I hate to have him be right.
Thanks for your response.

Ya Know Ed, I was just at the Pet supermarket this morning, and was looking at a Cat Tree just about the height of our bed. I was going to buy it and place a bed on it for her. She could see us, and be on equal height, yet be separate.
Now I am going to have to buy this and try this out.
It makes perfect sense! Thanks!

Jackson Galaxy had a show with a similar issue. He had the people do the tough love approach, but he also had the rest of the house be set up to be more cat friendly that would, in a sense, give the cat ownership of the space. He also had the cat's owners exercise her really hard several minutes until she was literally out of breath and panting in order to tire her out, so she would become more likely to give the couple their rest.
His show is on Animal Planet and is called My Cat From Hell. There are limited show segments available to watch on the site. He also has his own website, which is his name .com. You can even ask for advice on his site. I think that's one of the ways that certain cats end up on his show. But, since he has already done a show with similar issues, you may not have to be on TV in order to get the advice you're looking for.
I saw a youtube video on this problem with a cat whisperer type guy. He got the cat owners to put a cat bed in the room, which had to be either the same height as the bed or higher. On the floor it didn't work because the cat couldn't see the owner. Whoever is the most dominant over the cat must move it to the bed and keep returning it. I think it took 2 days to resolve.
only 'us' crazy cat people would understand CML...we loose sleep or lay in most uncomfortable positions just so our babies aren't disturbed...I know only too well...:((
I have no suggestions..other than locking these dear little furry intruders outside the bedroom, than only to give in after listening to their pitiful little cries or raging demands...lol
yup they would indeed be laughing at us over coffee...:)
