You mean your kitty has dirt underneath the claws, right? It's normal. It might be due to the litter or if you let her go outside, well...claws will always be dirty if you let her out.
My cat's back claws are also dirty and look black if you look at the base. I don't even bother cleaning it as he uses the litter box more than just once in one day. As long as everything else looks healthy I wouldn't worry. :)
It could also be poop from scratching in the litter box, which would explain the eye infection. Are you treating the eye infection? I would trim his nails down, too. That might help a bunch!!
The eye infections are taken care of. It doesnt look like dirt but I'm going to try and clean them to see what happends. Hes an indoor cat and I clean his box every day but its possible the eye infections are just from him stepping in poo. Thanx for your help~
No problem! Glad to help. I've had quite a few kitties with the poo in the paws, and some have jumped on me with those paws. I can see how a pooey paw could cause an infection if the claws are sharp and they break the skin by scratching theirselves. Are you going to cut the nails down?? If you do, be careful how far down you go!!
My kitten has an infected toe and the skin is crusty and dark, to where the skin around it has fallen off with the dry skin. The skin keeps falling off and and it the area is balding more. She does not seem to feel any pain, and is playful and happy. Can anyone tell me what this may be?
Also, the nail, towards the beginning of the nail, is a darker color, is there an infection in the bone? or Nail?
