my cat came home with a swollen face

I have a little manx kitten he's about 14 weeks old. Hes an outside/inside cat. well the other day when we got home at about 5 or so he was on our back porch and the left side of his face was horribly swollen. I brought him in a looked in his mouth and didn't see anything. I felt around on where he was awollen and couldn't find a stinger or anything. well it's been about three days now the swelling started to go down and he never seemed to have a problem he was still the same BamBam he was before the incident, Well when I went out this morning to check on him he was extremely weak and wouldnt move much and his face was extremely swollen. I have been forcing water into him to keep him from getting dehydrated and i have put ice on his sweeling and it's started to go down. I also took some q-tips and cleans some blood out from around the inside of his mouth the left side. anyone got any ideas on whats wrong with him? are there any antihystamines that you can give a feline? I'm going to take him to the vet first thing tomorrow morning if he does get any better by then

I'm so sorry you lost your BamBam.  It sounds like he had an abcess.  Kitties can get them from many things, and usually they swell and if it is in a good place the abcess with open and seep and you will be able to clean it, but you should always take the kitty in, as they may need to have more drainage to clear the infection as well as antibiotics.  My Kitty liked to take on things bigger than herself when she was younger and usually got bit on the behind when running away, usually from raccoons, silly girl.  So she would get swollen and she would get lethargic.  Once she got the meds and drained, she was fine.

I'm so sorry you lost your kitty.  Losing a furry companion is always sad.  This happened rather quickly to him while he was just a baby.  You did the best you could under the circumstances.  My condolensces.
