Cat is in pain and won't drink

Noticed something was up with him so we took him in. He just had a checkup 2 weeks ago and was totally fine. They did bloodwork and X-rays and both came back fine. He was dehydrated and had lost almost a full lb since his checkup. He seems to have some pain coming from his back or hips. Vet gave him fluids, an antibiotic and pain meds and sent us home. He's just lounging under my bed and won't come out to eat or drink unless I force him. And it's very difficult to get him to drink. I have to use the dropper from his pain meds to get him to drink. He kinda growls a little here and there I think maybe from pain.
I'm just at a loss. Bloodwork was normal. X-rays were fine. What could be going on?

Is he an indoor/outdoor cat? I'm wondering if this could be an injury that they missed on the xrays.  How old is he?  What was the kidney and liver function like?  And, this is important-does he have a heart murmur?  I'm asking about the heart murmur because, if there's underlying heart issues, sometimes blood clots can form in the lower body and cause pain and eventually paralysis in the lower half of the body.

If you can't get him to eat or drink-try low sodium chicken broth, baby feed(strained meat only-ham, chicken, or turkey), human tuna, or some chicken breast.

I hope your baby starts feeling better soon!

Hi Earthy,

Have I got this right.....2 weeks ago he went in for a check up, had blood tests and x-ray and was totally fine?

Now 2 weeks later he has lost a full pound ,is dehydrated and the vet gave him antibiotics, pain meds, and fluid without a definitive diagnosis??
Lazy Vet--- just throwing things at the wall hoping something sticks???

Has your kit been using the litter box ? Peeing and pooping? Has he been vomiting----Losing 1 full pound in 2 weeks is very serious for a cat. Dehydration comes from vomiting and diarrhea and not eating. If he is not eating or drinking or voiding he may have a bowel obstruction.

Needless to say these are serious symptoms and I would suggest your vet re-tests him until he has a Definitive diagnosis and the the proper resolution to his condition.
Just sayin.......You should leave the vets office with an answer to your questions, the proper meds for the specific problem, and a resolution to any pain. It is just not acceptable to have your cat home , still not feeling well, and still not knowing what is causing the problem--Agreed?

Please let us know what the vet comes up with.....and yes I would take your kit right back today.

Best Wishes and please keep us posted, K?
