6 month old Kitten making strange noises?

I have a 6 month old long haired tabby kitten who up to a few days ago, was acting normal. Eating, drinking, playing. Now all of a sudden, she is making these low, meowing noises. It's something I have never heard her do before. It's a low, long, deep meow...and can vary in tone I guess from deep to deeper...

Sorry this is really hard to explain?

Any ideas of what this could be? Thank you , Merry Christmas

Hi Kane ,

She may be looking for her first boyfriend!!!--Female cats go into heat between 5 and 7 months. Has she been spayed? If not she may be in her first 'HEAT".

Nothing to worry about--it will be only a few days than she will stop, but PLEASE have her spayed if you haven't already. If you do not want to breed her than this is a must --well IMOO.

Hi   MYAH,

That is a funny story! I mean these are like our little children. Having sex is the last thing we would think of--like babies having babies!

I am happy you also feel that is what is happening and nothing more serious.Hate to be the first to comment , but with the Holiday wasn't sure how many would be on the forum.

Have a wonderful Holiday and Happy New Year

my kittens were 6 months old at Christmas and they both started to do the low moaning and that went to full yowling in a couple of days.  I thought they were dying or in pain and called the vet who was at a christmas party, just panicked and getting ready to drive them over to the party so they could be seen by the vet....I could barely hear him over the noise of his party crowd, but he was kind and said i should make an appointment to have them spayed as they were in heat, nothing more, nothing to worry about and he hung up.

What?? Heat.??? They were babies, but on Monday after Christmas I had them in to the vet and they were set for surgery....I still remember that panicked call every christmas and also remember how that wonderful vet took a minute out of his own party to soothe my mind....I don't think this happens much anymore....

Good luck and Merry Christmas
