A few days ago I bought some treats for my cats. My younger cat ate one no problem, but I noticed my older cat was having some issues chewing it and swallowing.
I let it go the first time, thinking that it was gross and she didn't like it.
But when I tried to give one to her another time, she was trying to hard to eat it but she just couldn't. Whenever she moved her mouth a certain way she would meow in pain, and than she started drooling everywhere.
I then, earlier today, tried to look into her mouth and see if she had any tooth decay or a tooth problem at all, she would not let me open her mouth without getting a snippy meow at me, like she was in pain.
She is a 12 year old pure black mix. She has had perfect health her whole life, so much that we never had to take her to the vet. She is breathing fine, eating I am not so sure of now, but I never see her eat so I am not sure if she is having issues are not.
Everything else about her is fine, it's just her oral area.
What's wrong with her and what should I do? Should I start feeding her wet food since I don't think she can chew up dry food? Should I take her to the vet?
Thank you
