Rabies. Really scared

My cat was foaming/spitting out white from the  mouth about 6 weeks ago (he's not vaccinated, indoor cat and it just kinda went away and he never did it again) is there a chance my cat has rabies? I have horrible anxiety and I was reading symptoms on rabies and they started to really scare me. I was just in the hospital a month ago because my heart rate hit 190 bpm. They said it was from my lung infection and anxiety, but ever since My anxiety and freak outs get so much worse. My cats still alive though, he's eating and is either sleeping or playful. I just hope I don't have rabies. Any help? Sometimes I feel like I'm acting funny, but I can't tell if that's because I'm looking for symptoms and having an anxiety attack. I get really bad headaches (but that can also be from anxiety) I just need to know if my cat had rabies if he would be dead by now or how this would work. I'm really scared.

I think both you and your kitty are fine, just finding out that there are things in th world, which seem scarier than they are.

I'd worry more, if you weren't worried.

Yeah, maybe you're right. I'm just scared that I could have rabies because of the way he was acting, but he is only a few months old!!!

Sometimes cats just get exuberant or hyper and just need to burn off their energy.  It's just the "cat crazies".  Even my older cat gets like that sometimes.  Younger cats would be expected to get hyper or very energetic like that more often, just like human children.  It's normal.

Also, when they're younger, they're inexperienced in life, so sometimes unfamiliar objects in the house can seem "scary" to them at first.  Have you seen the videos on YouTube where the kitten is up on the person's bed and there are some apples placed on the bed (obviously staged) and the kitten keeps slowly approaching then bouncing back with his back arched like he's scared?  Or, have you seen how sometimes cats will react to full length mirrors in the house, because to them they're not seeing their own reflection but they're seeing another cat in their territory?  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  If you act like it's no big deal, then eventually whatever is scaring the kitty will no longer be a big deal to him either.

I know that medicated condition all too well.

I was the primary care giver for my wife during the 15 years she was out of work due to service connected suitabilities, including PTSD.

I was on anti-depressants for 2 years...

Our Kitties were such a blessing.

His name is jäger. He's a few months old. We haven't gotten him vaccinated yet. (That's important on our list though) I have horrible anxiety and I just can't seem to get rabies out of my mind! It's scaring me like crazy, even when I'm on my medication!

If your kitty is eating and drinking normally, he does not have rabies.

Sometimes, when kitty is experiencing something unpleasant for the first time they can scare themselves

I know that my kitty Chessie.startles herself quite a it when she comes across something new.

Keep writing, we are here to help.

What's kitty's name?

When he was doing it, he was running about crazy! We thought he just scared himself, which could be why he was running crazy. For sure, after the foaming of a rabied animal they die right away?

He may have been trying to cough up a hairball when he was foaming at the mouth.  On occasion they can do that.

When i was reading online, it said that it could take anywhere from 3-7 months. So after the foaming stage that means he should die shortly after? It was 6 weeks ago. I just want to make sure i didn't get bit by him recently and somethings starting to happen. I'm on my anxiety medicine, but i still tend to freak out about it sometimes. My headaches are throbbing and i know that rabies inflames the brain. I just wanna make sure my brains not starting to inflame and get ready for me to go into a coma!

Your cat does NOT have rabies, and neither do you.  I know this because 1) Your cat is not dead. 2) You are not dead.  Okay?  :-)   - Blu
