Please, give some more details-what was the scary noise?, have you had a good look at the claws? If there is more than one claw messed up, and it looks bad then I'd take her to the vet.
Another word of advice, it's really not safe for your declawed cat to go outside by herself. She can't protect herself. It would be better if you could go out with her for 15-30 minutes a day.
hi, from leroysplace :
the same thing happened to my male cat (he does or did have) all his claws, but one night i noticed his claws felt very short after looking at them it looked as though they had been ground of to the quick and very sore. but in answer to your question if they did grow back and returned to the normal razors they always were he is an indoor/outdoor cat so that was a good thing and he didnt need to see a vet. just keep an eye on the damaged claws if they are not comepletely detatched and the cuticle exposed the should be fine but if they are they wont grow bck. and are very sensitive and can become infected. I know because mine lost his pinky in a cat fight b-4 this last ordeal and thats what i had to have done.
The scary noise was acutally an air compressor deflating, which sounded like a big hissing noise. I do always go outside with her. I looked at the claws and I think I will give it till this weekend before taking her to the vet. The claws look short and I will keep an eye on them so they do not get infected. Is it ok to rub peroxide on her claws to keep infection away?
Thanks for the advice.
I think that peroxide is a great idea!! I wouldn't put anything else on her, because it might not be safe. Whatever goes on a cat's body always gets licked off! Peroxide is perfect!! I'd do it a couple of times a day!
Please let me know how she's doing! =D
