cat with trouble urinating

My cat has an enlarged heart and after a congestive heart failure 6 years ago has been on 3 medications continuously, doing pretty well for the most part. Today he is squatting in many odd places and leaving small drops of pink watery substance-- I assume urine with blood in it? He is a good cat at home but nearly impossible at the vet--very stressed, biting, and difficult to work with. Because of his heart condition, I only bring him in to the vet for this stressful visit every three years, for shots. What do you think could be going on?
Thank you.

ZQ is right, but a quick add on; it sounds like a possible blockage (which causes the infection) as well. If your cat is suffering from crystals forming blocks, you'll want to (once the block is cleared) be sure to keep him on a high liquid diet to prevent dehydration (one of the most common causes of crystal formation).

This is probably a simple bladder infection.  I've had cats for more than 20 years, and have seen this TOO many times to count.  It also points to a bladder infection, if it's small amounts of urine, and it's not like him to go outside the litter box.

Some antibiotics from the vet will fix him up in no time.
