Maybe you should have a priest come over and do an exorcism over her, lol. I swear, we used to wonder if our little terror was possessed!
she's 1 1/2 and no she's not pregnant. we had her spayed last year.
she has been GOD AWFUL!!! i'm talking a total terror!!!! tonight i went to check on the babies and she was in their room. well i stepped over the baby gate and she attacked my legs! she wouldn't even let me near their beds! so i was going down the stairs to the 2nd floor and the little devil chased me! i went into the bathroom and she jumps onto the counter and proceeds to yell at me! i could only imagine what she was saying to me...she had a very mean look on her fuzzy face. *sigh* this cat. lol.
How old is your kitty? Could she be pregnant? They get very lovey dovey when they're pregnant.
she drank a full bowl of water tonight just kind of nibbled her food a little bit. she did go potty potty today so she seems to be doing ok. i just hope the actual move tomorrow doesn't stress her out more.
Paintsflowers,
It is not easy to keep a cat hydrated but it can be done. Grab a syringe or an eye dropper with water, and open the cat's mouth. Gently insert the syringe or dropper into the cat's mouth, insert it through the side of the mouth as it tends to be easier. If kitty makes it difficult to do this, wrap him in a towel so you or the cat won't get hurt, and do your thing. I hope this really helps. I will post on your thread as well so you have this info over there.
Heather,
Please let us know about her progress. At least she is eating and going potty. That's improvement. Good luck at the vet's :)
Hi hun! I'm so glad you found Venus but sad to hear she's not feeling well. I'll be saying some prayers for her and for you!
I'll bet it's the stress. After we lost Daisy, our Abby, became very clingy to me and she is hubby's girl. She acted different. Sometimes when they sense a change they will act out that way.
Please let us know what the vet says next week!
Hugs,
Janet
Hello - I saw your last post to healtherynn22 and noted that you said to keep the cat hydrated. As you know from my post, Puddie had to be on IV for 2 days to rehydrate him. I tried everything to make him drink other than squirting it in his mouth. Stubborn. He has now started to eat a little and drinking,
So how do you hydrate them??
she didn't throw up today so that's a positive. she's venturing out of the closet a little bit (to eat, get a scratch and go potty) which she still isn't going potty like normal (she's eating and drinking but not going like she did before) her water bowl is always full and i change it twice a day to make sure it's fresh. i called her vet today and she has an appointment next week.
And how’s the little terror doing today? Poor kitty. Is she still feeling sick? Still not going potty or eating? Remember to keep her hydrated, k?
Good Luck, and keep us posted!
so glad all turned out alright for you!...they can sure give us a scare.
I had a little himmie girl with no voice(just so soft)
she once got into a dresser draw on me and I tell you I turned the house upside down...the next day when I again opened that draw to get a pair of socks there she was very annoyed looking!! ha, ha.
oh it was awful! we were completely freaking out. she's not the sort of cat to just leave so we didn't know what to do or where to look. we searched this house from top to bottom. every crevice and we still don't know where she was hiding in the nursery. no clue.
Oh yeah! Cats find the greatest places to hide. I don't know how they do it. They can crawl into the smallest places too! Places we wouldn't think of!
I remember once my family was in the process of a big move to another state. We were staying in a motel and had let our cats out of their carriers in the motel room. We had brought home some take out and had just sat down to eat when I noticed one cat appeared to be missing. How hard is it to search a motel room, right? I mean, there's only so far she could have gone! Then I started panicking, thinking she had somehow slipped out the door and we didn't know it. After searching the motel room and bathroom we started searching outside the motel room. Of course it's dark which only made things worse! We walked all over, calling her, going down a dark alley, peering everywhere. And I'm crying, of course. We finally go back to the room, feeling defeated, and I hear a muffled meow. Turns out the bed frame was hollow wood where you could lift up the mattress and there was a hollow place under it. I don't know how she managed to get under there but I was so relieved and annoyed all at the same time! Lol.
So yes, I've had many episodes of searching for a cat who was under our nose all along. Little boogers, lol.
Glad you found Venus. :o)
all right...nevermind. we found the little terror. she was in the nursery (Which we did search there) not sure where she was hiding but yeah she has been found!
oh guys we have a BIG problem....venus is missing!!!!! dh and i have been searching EVERYWHERE for her for the past 4 hours....and nada. she's GONE!!! but we don't know how. the screen door downstairs is shut, all windows are shut...but she's gone! we've searched high and low for her. every nook and crany and nothing. oh god i hope i didn't accidentally pack her in a box. she'd cry right? we haven't even heard her meowing or barking at us! i found her collar though. she got it unhooked (it's one of those saftey collars that unhooks if it's pulled hard enough so kitty doesn't end up hanging herself or anything of the sorts). i don't know what to do!!!!
She could just be stressed. Cats can get stressed easily and a move is a pretty big deal. She knows something is going on. Throwing up, hiding, not going to the bathroom as often, even being more affectionate can all be signs that she's feeling stressed. I'd give her the affection and attention and try to keep things as calm as you can around her.
It's still a good idea to see the vet though, of course, to see if she's sick. Let's hope not! Let us know what the vet says, ok?
Ive been reading your posts about Venus for a month or so and she seems like a cat who is very intelligent....and perceptive. I used to have a cat that ALWAYS acted strange if we packed to go on a vacation or move or just get a new couch or bed etc. Some cats act really strange when their environment changes or people are acting different (rushing around with boxes). It could just be her kitty nerves acting up. Lets hope so! Sometimes I wish we could sit them down and explain what is going on..(like why i am shoving pills down poor Rudys throat 2x a day).Rudy has been extra lovable latley too, and you would think he would run when he sees me. I think they feel our love and our tension and respond to it. Good luck! Maybe Venus is mad because she won't be able to get her new door at the new house open! lol shawna
well we are in the middle of packing. we're moving to a new house on thursday. the only time she goes outside is when she sneaks out (which she's never out for more than 10 maybe 20 minutes until i can catch her). we don't let strings or anything like that stay on the floor because of the kids. the strings she does play with are usually attached to something (the boys got balloons for their birthday and when they were still inflated venus would jump up to attack their strings). She is due for her vaccinations so i'm going to be calling and making her an appointment within the next few days so i do believe i will have them do some bloodwork as well to find out what's wrong with her.
One of the most frustrating things in veterinary medicine is the fact that the patients can't talk to the doctors and let them know where it hurts or why they are doing a certain behavior. Veterinarians rely so MUCH on owner observations and details.
So, if you think that Venus is acting out of sorts, it might be time for a trip to her veterinarian. A good physical and maybe some baseline bloodwork might be able to help sort out what is bothering her.
Before you go, you might also consider a couple of things: 1) Have there been any changes in the household recently? 2) How often does Venus go outside? 3) Does she ever play with things like ribbons or string?
These are some of the questions that your veterinarian might ask you in order to try and determine what's going on with Venus.
Good luck...keep us posted.
