All Chiari Symptoms back 5 years after decompression surgery

I was diagnosed with Chiari about 5 years ago.  My tonsils were 25mm long.  I had two surgeries in 2 months because the first patch on the dura leaked.  I now have all the symptoms back.  I got a EMG from the neurologist which shows nerve damage to the L5.  I had a MRI of the neck and spine last week.  I go back to the neurologist tomorrow for the results but we had a family friend read the disk today.  He said that it looks like the CSF is flowing fine by the amount he saw on the MRI.  He also mentioned i have narrowing of the left frame.  He also said I have stenosis.  I am completely at a loss as to what this could be.  Has anyone ever had all the Chiari symptoms come back after surgery?  if so did you have to have another decompression surgery or surgery for stenosis.

Hi and welcome back to the Chiari forum.

Stenosis is typical for those with  Chiari....I have it but did not have the surgery for it....

It is possible to have a return of symptoms IF you have a related condition...many of the related conditions can cause the same symptoms as Chiari...

I know I asked you this back in 2012, not sure if you answered....did they rule out Ehlers-Danlos?

When was you last MRI done?

It is possible yo have had scar tissue form and that could be causing your issues....

What type of dura patch was used?

no they did not check for Ehlers-Danlos.  I have terrible pain in the back of my skull down by the base where they removed the skull.  I have to take medicine every day and too much of it.  When I press down where the pain is it hurts so much.  what do you think about all of this?
