drop attacks / epilepsy / fainting?

I know that a few people suffer these and I am curious as to if these are common for us to get?

I have never had any of these but i am scared that i end up getting one of these from my chiari ...

Do we all end up with drop attacks at some point?

I have been getting these since I was 18....I am now 40.  I was diagnosed with chiari  early this year and all this time doctors told me I got up too quickly or I was overheated. And you are correct as I fall to the ground, shake uncontrollably and am not aware I even did it until someone is picking me up.....its so weird.

Selma is right.  The neurologists told me the same thing that it is a sudden blockage. But he also said that it can be mild and may not get worse.  I have only fainted once but I cant say it was due to the chiari.  Hang in there and make sure you let your neorologist know.

Hi, I had drop attacks and from the way I was explained what they were it is when CSF is completely blocked but for a split second, this is around the time a syrinx may begin to form as well....bcuz of the obstruction.....

When the CSF is blocked, no signals r getting transmitted to tell ur brain how to hold ur body up, so u fall, and when it flips back on, u r aware, u just can not function correctly to react or respond.

So it really depends on how bad of an obstruction u have if u will have a drop attack b4 u have surgery....

Let me also mention, it is not like passing out where u feel funny just b4 hand, u do not feel a thing, u r fine one minute and falling the next with no indication as to y.

As for fainting I fainted a few times over the yrs....not sure if it was chiari related....it was so long ago....

And as for epilepsy we r all diff and no we do not all get ne of these...some may never get a one of them...while some may deal with all 3.

I had surgery bcuz of my drop attacks and injuries I had as a result of my fall .....

Not everyone that has drop attacks has to have surgery on the injuries like me either , I was just lucky I guess...LOL>>>not.....

If u do not have these, do not worry about them, deal with the issues u have now.....but it is always possible that if the CSF flow gets worse this may happen, but it may not be all 3.....I only really  had 1 just b4 surgery....the drop attacks....that was enuff and since surgery...none!!
