Legal action labor/malpractice law advice

I'm looking for some advise, patient advocacy or attorneys that would help me with my situation.  I am currently seeking police pension in Illinois after two brain surgeries.  The first was to clip an anuersim and the second was for decompression surgery (Chiari 1 >9mm).  I'm afraid that the whole "pension crisis" is going to affect me obtaining my disability pension thanks to all the "injured backs" and "chronic hangnails" .
There seems to be some unethical activity within the process I am going through.  There is SOLID evidence of what I have been through and that I shouldn't be on the street anymore. YET! "unbiased" Independent Medical Examiners seem to be motivated to disprove disability cases...My guess is the $, no?. Is it not Malpractice for failure to diagnose a condition from a medical examiner regardless of what "arena" they are in?
Maybe i'm jumping the gun, but should I start looking for politicians and media exposure? My profile is more detailed.  Thanks for taking the time to read.  I know we have all been through the trouble of getting our conditions confirmed and acted upon by neurosurgeons.  It's the "second half"of skeptics I now have to deal with.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

We do not have suggestions here for ur legal and union issues regarding disability....I can tell u it can take up to 2 yrs for many to get SID after surgery as many do not consider chiari to be a life altering and disabling condition.

U will need a lawyer and the best advice I can offer is take a look at this link- http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Chiari-Malformation/Link-for-SSID-Secrets-to-win-appeals-/show/1205049
