Need Help!

I was diagnosed with Chiari back in 2009 and had my decompression surgery 3/5/2010.....well it seemed that everything went fine for awhile....then it started again laughing to hard hurts the back of my head.....sneezing, coughing, and doing so many other task......now I have severe pain down my spine 24/7 wwith no relief......I went to the (ER) and they just gave me pain meds which last for so long.........I also have tingles that shoot through my arms and my hands and feet fall asleep really easily. I am beginning to believe that these problems are associated with having Chiari......Do anyone know of a (NS) located in the Indianapolis Indiana area?........I have to find someone that knows about this disorder and won't tell me that my symptoms are not from Chiari....if anyone has any suggestion please let me know thanks.

It is possible...did u do neck exercises post op? I was given certain ones to do to help prevent scar tissue and to help keep the muscles from getting tight....

Thank you for informing me about  the Mayfield Clinic in Ohio. I will set an appoinment with them and go from there. And yes Doctor Di was my (NS)....when I heard he wasn't there anymore it surprised me.

Another question that I have is could this be just muscle spasms going through my spine or could it be something that's related to the Chiari?

The is a Chiari clinic in Ohio called the Mayfield Clinic with Dr Tew, u would not have to go far...Dr Di left over a yr ago and no word where or when he may pick up practice again. Word was he had his own health issues.

Look at the list of Drs on the Health Pages for more info on the Mayfield clinic.

Is there anyway that therered cord or sprynx can develop later on even if I did not have before?

I think I'm going to try and go to the Chiari Center in Wisconsin....I want to go where there are specialist that truely know about this condition.

Hi and welcome back, so sorry u r again having issues.

Some develop scar tissue and is y they begin to have symptoms again, and then others may have bulging disks that slowly shifted and may be causing a CSF obstruction causing similar symptoms.

Did u have a post op Mri ? If so, it would be good to get another one to get them compared to see what is going on.

Can ur PCP help u with that?.....Who did ur orig surgery, if u have scar tissue, can u go back to them?

We do have our list of Drs, and there may not be one in ur area, and u may have to travel..do scroll down to the list and take a look, then research the Drs as they r not all true chiari specialists, but have treated the members here.
