Chest pain
Ok I'm dumb,i should have asked dr oro this, but I forgot. I have had several bouts of chest pain over the last year and my heart has been checked out and I've had several ct scans they could never find the cause. I do have a higher risk for blood clots but never have had one. I'm experiencing chest pain ib a band like sensation. Its like pressure. The worst part is in between my shoulder blades among the right side of my spine only. It hurts to breathe deep. I do not have a syrinx only chairi 11mm. Can the chairi alone cause this? I don't want to go to the dr again and them find nothing again. And if its chiari related I won't worry about it, but also know chest pain should not be fooled around with.
That is what I was told too...especially the breastbone pain. Which makes sense with my theory, if those joints are being stressed due to weakness then it will cause things to inflame. That is what costochondritis is, inflammation of the cartilage that attaches the ribs to the breastbone. A lot of the time this pain can also travel to the midpoint of your back.
One question.. have you been tested for any autoimmune inflammatory diseases? Like Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis? Costochondritis can be a sign of those things too. If not, I would ask to have an ANA test done, it is a simple blood test that looks for inflammatory antibodies and will show positive if you have either of the two mentioned above. If it is positive then your Dr should look further into what it can be.

I went in and they said if was costochondritis... anyone familiar with this? it just says inflammation.. I have inflammation all over my body....
Does it feel like this pain may be stemming from your spine? I had that horrible pain in between my shoulder blades too except mine was worse on my left side (which is my bad side). It really scared me b/c after I would get the pain in my back it would also run into my shoulder and down my arm right into my wrist and fingers. Being that it was my left side, the first thing I worried about was my heart. I had a bunch of tests too and everything turned out better than good. Once thing I noticed though is that when I had the stress test on the treadmill, even though my heart was good I was having trouble holding on to the bar. I realize now that it was one of my first signs of weakness. Later on, I realized that the pain in my back was actually related to a section in my t-spine that has dessicated discs and inflames on a regular basis even just by moving the wrong way. That in turn, triggers the pain in my back and now most times it travels around my left side and I get a sharp pain in my breastbone. Sometimes it hurts to breathe. Having Chiari has caused me a lot of weakness in muscle, especially the small muscles/ligaments that hold the joints together. That pain in the back I am sure was the first sign to indicate the weakness and damage Chiari was causing my body. The best way to prevent this is to avoid any heaving lifting or activities that will stress that area of your back (picking up children, twisting too far).

No I do not have hashi motis , I have been tested and do not have nodules. I will go in.

No worries...I understand...lol...I type the wrong thing sometimes, I can't blame it on my phone,,....lol....
I did not mean u were hyperthyroid...mine was hypo...it is a condition many with chiari have called Hashimoto's thyroiditis......
If u have this and u had nodules they could be pressing against the vagus nerve.
There r so many things that could be going on...
I meant my thyroid is good.... Not entries lol...I'm on my phone and it types things I don't mean sometimes and I apparently don't see it til after I post.
My entries is good, if anything too slow, I'm taking just a little to help my metabolism, so its definitely not hyper thyroidism. I'm not having palpitations just like someone is sitting on me and a sharp pain in my lung on the back side when I breathe. I don't know about the vegas nerve, just know my heart is healthy, had all kind of ekg,echo and halter monitor over 72 hours.

Did they check ur thyroid?....vagus nerve?...I even had a ultra sound of my carotid arteries ...

Regardless if they find something or not, go to the Dr as it could be chiari and it could be ur heart....I understand u had it checked, do u have family history of heart issues?
I also had heart palps...and it was a thyroid issue that was chiari related....but the vagus nerve can be involved....so many things, go get checked and let ur Drs know.
