Rough Morning...

Woke up screaming in pain from a lovely little leg cramp.. then felt like I was stabbed repeatedly in my lower ab area and back.... then got the worst headache I've had yet... probably from all the crying making my sinuses get all filled up and filling my head with pressure... the acid reflux is out of control and prilosec isn't touching it and my digestive sys is all screwed up as a result.. and last night I moved funny and my hip has felt weird since and my "dead thigh" nerve issue was acting up right before I went to sleep. Took a pain pill and an extra prilosec... waiting for the numb to kick in..

Ever have one of those days where you just get pain after pain after pain and it just doesn't seem to end?
What do you do to make yourself feel better emotionally/mentally.

I was really feeling like
"if only people were like cars.. and you could just replace the broken or faulty parts.. or a computer.. you could just move the 'motherboard' to a new body" (hubby just looked at me as if I'd lost my mind).

Thanks so much for the suggestions and kindness...
Guess I'm not the only one even though it feels like it most of the time..

I've had acid reflux since I was like.. 11
IBS since I was 15
The diet changes and raising of the head of the bed i've tried and they help a little.. but not much.. gave up on all that and just eat whatever makes me happy now-in moderation of course!-the head of the bed being raised does help alleviate some of the dizzy feelings and such.. so I keep that up

Still limping around from the charlie horse.. thankfully it was just the one leg today... hubby's reaction is hysterical.. of course... if he started screaming and shrieking and woke me up from a dead sleep i'd look like someone was trying to kill us or something too... bless him. <3

does anyone else get the electric burning and numb feeling in the outside of their thigh (mine is my right leg) -any tips on easing that?

Hopefully we all have a good (or at least.. not bad...) rest of our day! <3

Hi Mara!

I am so sorry you are having a bad pain day, just pulled out of a 3 day run of my own. Still in the progression of symptoms, so I don't get the acid reflux yet, but when I was pregnant I had it pretty bad. Nothing really helped it except for sleeping in the recliner, sometimes I would get some relief from ginger root or from baking soda (directions for antacid on side of box), but the taste can be a bit much on either one. As for the muscle cramping, have you tried Valerian Root? It is sold in capsule form at most drug stores and is a natural muscle relaxant. It can tend to make you sleepy though, so don't drive anywhere till you know how it will affect you and if you are on pain meds make sure you check with your doc or pharmacist for possible interactions.

I am so sorry to hear that this is one of other tough mornings. I understand and am having a tough morning/week too. It is hard to explain to others what is wrong sometimes. I have felt crazy too many times with aches or pains or electrical stabbing that have not made sense many times. I find that this forum is helping if only in finding people that express their sensations and experiences which may be similiar to mine.

I have found that reflux can be completely controlled with diet - not easy to get the energy to change diet when we are feeling otherwise crappy, but going with low Glycemic Index diet leads to slow food digestion and therefore less reflux. (also to less highs and lows of insulin, less appetide, weight loss, evening out of moods, change in pain perception for the better....) I am not gonna talk anyone into it in this post, just thought that I would drop this suggestion: Google Glycemic Index.

how about we both take it one day at a time?

I understand completely! I hate waking up in the mornings feeling like a mac truck has run me over. Lately it takes me about 2-3 hours after getting out of bed before I can cope and fuction appropriately.

Today however, I am having a difficult time and of course feel like no one understands. I can't stand it!! I wish no one had to hurt or feel like this!

Just having a really bad day!!!!

Hi Mara,

Ah yes the lovely "charlie horses" as we call the leg cramps...I would get them so often my DH would pull my leg straight while still asleep....lol....
I would get them in both legs at the same time....and I hate that ghost pain u have the rest of the day sometimes 2 after a really bad one.

For ur acid reflux, since prilosec is not helping as ur dr to see if a HII is better for u than the PPI.....and HII would be like a rx strenght of pepcid.....I was on PPI's for yrs and they did work, but this spring they didn't work ne more and I got Pepcid but a rx dosage and it is working well.

But, when I had a flare from all the meds from surgery I also took Maalox along with the pepcid.
Plus, change ur diet and elevate the hed of ur bed...avoid dairy prior to going to bed...and try not to eat for at least 4 hrs prior to lying down.

Do u have an IBS issue as well?...if so it will affect ur reflux.

Tell ur Hubby there r many likeminded people here wishing the same....so I guess we all have lost our minds.....but again...they r falling out of where they r supposed to be......

: )
