3 yr boy biting hitting self/others

My son is just turning 3. If we tell him no about anything he whines and cries-no big deal, but now he also bites himself on the hand or pulls his hair out or scratches his face and  leaves marks. At daycare just yesterday he got mad at his teacher and he bit her! Then he pretended to pinch her and acted very ugly and defiant. I am getting very stressed and am out of ideas. He is so extreme over the smallest things. In time out he just screams his head off. Any help is appreciated.

My daughter has started doing the same things recently. She just turned 2 1/2 and I now have a 3 month old son.My daughter started hitting herself around my 7th month of pregnancy. She also bites her fingers or puts her finger in her mouth, bites down, and then yanks it out. She also pulls her hair, bites her arm and also scratches her face. Along with hitting herself in the head, stomach and legs. It's extremely frustrating and scary. I want to help her but I just don't know how because I'm not exactly sure what is causing it. I don't really have any ideas to help you exactly but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone in what you are going through.
