Can't get rid of LICE! HELP!!!!!

My 3 and a half year old has been battling lice for 6 MONTHS.  We have tried RID, NIX, olive oil, Licefreee, nit-picking by hand (HA, HA, she's 3--she won't even sit still for 5 mins, let alone an hour to go through every strand of hair!!.  Every time I think they are gone, they show back up again.  My other kids are clear, and DH insists he can't find any on me (thought I'm awfully itchy--could be psychological).  Doc is not helpful, says the prescriptions available are not good for kids, (fine, but....)offers no other options, just says to pick them out by hand.  I have plastic on everything, change bedding, bagged up stuffed toys.
I finally got fed up and did a no-no--I double dosed her with RID, and then Nix in one day.  When I went to comb and pick nits, I found several LIVE lice!!!!!!  I realize now that they are resistant mutants, and the chemicals aren't working, so there is no point in continuing to expose her to the chemicals, but what can I do????  I am at my wits end, and she announces to EVERYBODY that she has "buggies" in her hair, as she scratches away.  I am MORTIFIED, and want them GONE.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!!!  Thank You!

OMG!  So I'm not the only one!!  In the past when we have had a case, we do the Nix thing and it's all good.  This time the lice from he*! Have invaded my house and I'm the one who brought them home!  I sub at the school and think I got them from one of the kids.  I have had them for six weeks and they won't go away!  I did the Nix thing 3 times, Listerine over night with my head in a bag, olive oil for 4 hours, several natural products, the prescription poison from the doc, and recently I got so desperate that I dipped my hair with dog dip!  It didn't help, I still got them back. I have been shampooing my family (husband and 5 kids) with Nix every two weeks and keeping the coconut oil from the African American hair products on my two little ones.  They managed not to get them until recently. Two of the teenage girls had a few eggs and a dead bug.  I want to scream! Thanksgiving is at my house this year and I'm wondering if I should cancel it.  I just want to cry!  My poor husband and children have had to endure my constant cleaning and combing their hair.  I have spent over 72 hours on combing my hair alone!  I spend 4 hours a day combing my own hair as I don't have anyone to do it for me.  I wish there was a hair place you could go and have them delice your family!!  I know they have people in New York as I heard Kelli Ripa talk about it on one of her programs.  Me and my 10 year old think someone shoul invent a shampoo that unglues them so they wash out and one that dies them a bright green so you could see to get them out.  For the little blonde girl, try getting some coconut oil African American hair product. It looks like white vasiline and her hair will look wet, but you can french braid it.  Someone at her school may have it and not be treating it.

I found out last night that my son has lice.  He is in the 4th grade.  I kept him home from school today and discussed the situation with the school nurse.  She stated that he was not the only one in his grade dealing with this right now and it has been going around school.  She also said that they do not check an entire class if one student is found with lice.  They just spot check when someone comes into the nurse's office.  This being said, if your school's are doing the same thing, then your children could be getting it back from the original source, or someone else that caught if from the original source.  So my advice is to check the school or daycare.

I highly recommend the product  "lice freee"  you can find it at Walgreens, or go to their website
licefreee.com  (3 e's)  My daughters got it, and I got it too! We all 3 have long hair!  I used EVERYTHING! RID, NIX, Mayo, Olive Oil, Tree Oil, dying my hair, super HOT blow dryer, flat iron, vinegar etc, nothing seemed to work. I used this product ONCE and then comb the hair strand by strand I got a lot of the eegs, the next day, I checked and I have been checking for lice since, and combing and combing ... and I can't see a single eeg, or lice or even nits!!!! Also is very important you use a metal comb! they work much better than the plastic ones. Im keeping applying the product just in case, since is not toxic. I hope this works!

Yep, lots of good ideas posted above.  Have your mom read through them.  Good Luck - although, it really takes more hard work than luck.
