Could my child be ADD

Could my child be ADD

My son, 6, was recently skipped up from first grade to the second grade. He is extreamly smart and can figure things out on his own. However, the teacher tells me he is always zoned out and is having trouble focusing. Some of the things my son does is day dream about his future, he seems to have his entire life planned out, and he Hums or makes wierd noises when he is bored. If he had a video game or if he is building something with his leggos he can sit still for hours. He always needs the TV on while he is doing those things. He has yet to sit through an entire childrens movie.  Is this typical behavior for a 6 year old or should I seek some kind of help? He does not get into trouble, he keeps to himself mostly. He can read on a 4th grade level and he can do second grade math. He is also in the gifted program at his school. Is he bored? Is it possible he is ADD? What can I do to help him focuse more?

My sesne is that you should let him be. After all, it can hardly be said that he is struggling in school. The reality is that he is excelling in his academics. His behavior is not something you have to worry about - you are making a problem where there is none. Now, one thing to think about is how it will be for him to be in a grade where the other children are older. This can be quite difficult emotionally, even if is able to handle the work itself. So keep a watch on that. But, as far as the question of ADHD goes, I think you can ignore that.
