Two things are worth considering. First, his diagnosis is unclear and it may be worth getting a second opinion about that. If indeed he displays juvenile onset bipolar disorder he will require some medication apart from Concerta and it may be that a medication like Concerta could worsen his behavior. If he displays ADHD and no other emotional disorder, psychostimulant medications like Concerta could be fine. Second, he may require a specialized educational setting, and it's worth discussing with the school officials what options are open to him. Has he been evaluated in the school system?

As you are probably learning, any condition along the Pervasive Developmental Disorder spectrum can range from mild to severe, and among the PDD conditions Asperger's Disorder in general is the least severe. And among children who diplsay Asperger's Disorder, the condition also has varying degrees of severity. The medication plan sound sensible. In many areas there are support groups for families of children with this conditon.
