What is normal sexual behavior

My seven year son is very good friends with the seven year old girl across the street. Earlier today they were playing with each other at the neighbors house and decided to go inside. My neighbor thought that they had been too quiet for too long and decided to "spy" on them to see what they were doing. He said he saw my son put his hand down the neighbor girls pants, then his own pants and then he took his pants down and laid on top of her and was "humping". That's when he decided he had seen enough and walked in the house. By the time he got to them they weren't doing anything but seemed very nervous. The neighbor then came to my house saying my son was in need of some serious counseling and this was sick, totally abnormal and he almost called the cops. I let him know that I would have a serious talk with my son and I would try to get to the bottom of this. I try my best to control what he sees on TV, the only house he really goes to is the neighbors and I am a stay at home Mom. He is rarely even alone with any kids. I know this was inappropriate and it will be dealt with on my end (several discussions, grounding), but my neighbor never indicated that he was going to do anything on his end. Is my son a pervert that needs help or is this in the realm of normal?

Neither. Your son is not a pervert, and the behavior is not normal. Two things are important now. First, of course, set a clear and absoulte limit with your son that such behavior is out of line. Second, talk with him to figure out how he happened to have engaged in this behavior. Where had he learned about the behavior?  Such things do not spontaneously occur with children.

I would suggest you contact your child's pediatrician, who might refer you to a child behavior specialist.
