neck/shoulder pain

In the right side of my neck I have a heavy sensation most of the time.  It radiates around the right side of my head and at times causes excruciating pain and a numb like sensation in my right ear.  My chiro adjusts my neck and mentions that there is heat and inflamation around the c-spine area, especially at the top where the atlas muscle is.  His helper, does trigger point therapy on my neck and shoulders.  This seems to help way more than the adjustments.  My regular physician is very uncomfortable with the chiro adjusting my neck.  He says it is unsafe due to the lack of support in the area around your spine where it meets your brain.  I am confused as to what to do.  Should I push for a MRI to see exactly what the problem is?  As we speak, my ear and neck feels funny.  I am so tired of not feeling well.  When I am working on my thesis and typing the pains are worse and my arms get so tired.  It sometimes feels like a super stiffness in that right side of my neck. Could this be from a pinched nerve or something else?   Is there any help or hope in ever feeling normal again?  I am only 33, married, 2 children...... A lot to live for and be active for.  Any suggestions?  Thank you for your time.

In my opinion, you should seek a special form of chiropractic known as Upper Cervical Care. You can find a referral on this website: www.UpCspine.com.

I couldn't possibly disagree more with your "regular physician."

Warm wishes,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I had saw this suggestion that you made to a post from someone else.  So I went to the UpCspine site and there is a Upper Cervical Care specialist in my area.  I have contacted them and am waiting on their reply.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to respond to my question.  It means a lot for you as a stranger to care about my health.  May God bless you in your practice as a Chiropractor and in helping you reach out to those of us who need you.  Have a wonderful day.  Again, Many Thanks!!!!!
