Chlamydia of the throat

Hi, was wondering if anyone can help me?

I've had a sore throat that occurs every few weeks for over a year now. I've been to the Doctor and was given a mouthwash which has done nothing. I started to worry that this was an STD. I have been to the GUM clinic today and asked for a throat swab to check for STDs to put my mind at rest. They said they wouldn't test for chlamydia but did one for ghonorhea.

Also I have had a genital screen a couple of months ago. If I had it would it have shown up in them?

I'm still worried that this could be chlamydia and dont know what to do now as my visit to the clinic hasnt stopped me worrying. What are the chances that this is chlamydia and if it is would it eventually go on its own? Thanks x

Chances of oral chlamydia is very very very low.  Not even 5% chance.  Throat infections do not show on genital std testing.

Have you ruled out seasonal allergies/sinus problems?  Maybe you need your tonsils removed?  These are more likely to happen than an oral std infection.

Thanks for your help, i have been t the doctors before and they just gave me a mouth wash to use.

If it was to be chlamydia though would it eventually clear on its own? Is it possible  I have had it this long?

It probably is something like a sinus problem or my tonsils but im a worrier and  I cant stop thinking about chlamydia now and dont know what to do as the clinic wouldnt test me. :( x

Look for other causes. It won`t be chlamydia. A trip to an ENT specialist may help.
