Septra v. Chlamydia

Hi. Was wondering if anyone in his open forum knows about the effectiveness of septra/bactrim against Chlamydia. I found in the archives that Dr. HHH said that it is a recommended alternate treatment for those who do not tolerate doxy or azithro.

Wife was treated with septra for a uti and given septra 2x a day for, I think, five days. It cleared her symptoms (frequent urination and pain on urination). Then she had a nasty period with weird, dark discharge. That went away too after a week. But assume it was all caused by chlamydia. Would the septra have cured it?
