Side effects are a problem with Statin drugs for many people. I'm not a doctor, but I can recommend a few things. First, make an appointment with a registered dietician. This is a person specially trained and educated to help people change their food intake to alleviate many medical issues. You can often get a referral from your doctor.
Second, keep the appointment. Bring your blood work results with you to your appointment, so the registered dietician has a base-line from which to start.
Third, follow the RD's recommendations. I did and my LDL went down 16 points in 3 months. The results speak for themselves.
Actually, not all statins have the same side effects for all patients. Talk to your doctor about a different statin and/or dosage.
Reduce your sugar intake as most of the cholesterol is made by your liver. If you reduce sugar then sugar spikes get less and thus less cholesterol is need to be made to purify blood.
