Asthma but could it be worse…

Smoking for 20 years- 8-12 smokes a day age 38-stopped smoking a week ago…never had a health problem not even a fever ever…

Aug 2015 it begins- I had a breathing attack well staying at a relative’s home (old house with dust)..i had to sit up and wait for it to go (2-3 hours)…then up till October I had the odd breathing attack…again I would need to sit up for 2-3 hours till gone…I did use steam and Vicks and stuff to help….during this time I did start getting a little wheeze in the night like a whistle…but not in the day… . then OCT 2015 I went to an emergency clinic as breathing attacks where  becoming difficult  followed with shortness of breath(1-3 times a week)…they took X-rays all was good and they assumed I had Asthma….and gave me Zenhale inhaler…then I went to my family doctor and she agreed with-it but did tell me lungs are full with fluid (this explains the shortness of breath, wheezing)…and told me to stop smoking. Anyhow, from November till December Zenhale was okay never did I get full on breathing attack like previously.. just felt shortness of breath (very little) and felt crappy and had tightness of the chest…as well as…the very odd cough only when I smoked…...and my wheezing got much worse had it every night that woke me up and now sometimes in the day again whistling sounds only…I did start sleeping on my side with my head very low which controlled the wheezing at times during the night…come Dec 16 I got a cold…I recognised the cold and it played its course… come Jan 1 2016-i was feeling better but still had signs of the cold. Anyhow, at one point on Jan 1-2015 I bent over and water like fluid came from my nose (half an once looked just like water) the odd time I would hear congestion in my nose and hear open up…. Yet I never had a bigtime stuff nose…along with all the those things I still had shortness of breath, tightness of the chest and a cough and wheezing that now sounded like snoring/rattling…BUT  I still had my cold right…then come Jan 4-2015 when the cold weather really hit and I went back to work my symptom got way worse. Tightening of chest, Shortness of breath when doing most everything to a point..(survivable though) feeling that my head is congested (no stuffy nose) and wheezing all time day and night and a snoring/Rattling type of wheeze … and a cough that has gotten harsh-annoying-all the time -I would spit up sometimes very little in the morning…(thick creamy white or very light brownish phylum-no blood…but again very little )….so come second day back at work..i couldn’t handle it anymore so back to the emergency clinic…however; take note I use the floor heater in my office and its very dry since this day I stopped this…anyhow that day I went to the clinic who took blood work and x-rays again…and gave me a 6 day antibiotics…antibiotics did not help sadly…that following week I went for my results both x-rays and blood work are fine…but they did give me an in house breathing test and yet again said I asthma BUT did say wow your lungs are really restricted…they prescribed a bronchitis inhaler to take along with my Zenhale…I went 2 days feeling discouraged as I don’t find at this point either the inhalers help very me much so I knew that my issue was not getting solved… so I go see my family doctor and I explain all that has happened….who listens to my lungs and was surprised with how full my lungs are both front and back.. and told me she will send for pulmonary breathing tests (waiting for the appointment) I  asked what she thinks… she mentioned asthma and I asked if it could be COPD since I have been researching everything and she said it is possible-anything is possible…so now I am scared even though I have been told 3 times I have asthma and not COPD…that’s when I left her office and stopped smoking immediately…..that’s enough….…as well she prescribed me prednisone steroid -7 days cycle. After 1 day I noticed an improvement I now sleep and do not wheeze a night and can fully breath….(only been 1 night though lol) but my morning cough is rough BUT I also assume it from quitting smoking… but since starting this I feel less symptom’s, feel happier….and have energy BUT still have wheezing at times during the day….let’s see what tomorrow brings…
My fear is this drug works for now but when done will all symptom’s will  return when done the 7 cycle
Another fear is that I have COPD….i go back and forth on this…I will except anything I have…I just want to fix it.

Other little symptoms I have..
Sometimes when taking an inhaler I get a sharp pain on the left chest side
I do get heartburn often

Sorry for the long story. But can anyone give me thoughts as to what this could be…...is it asthma….or COPD or something else….i am losing my mind…and to live every day like this for the rest of my life would be terrible….help!
