As Hector has so eloquently stated you both appear to perhaps be able to reverse possible damage done by getting to the underlying cause. The liver is an amazing organ capable of Rejuvination.
My best to you both.

Ultrasound is not used to stage liver disease. So while you may not have signs of cirrhosis (stage 4 liver disease) you could have lesser stages of liver disease (stages 1-3).
Not all people chronically infected with hepatitis B need treatment. However, if your blood levels of ALT are elevated ongoing liver damage may be occurring. Treatment may be appropriate in this situation. Talk to your doctor. Appropriate management can reduce the risk of further liver damage and liver cancer.
Talk to your doctor about managing your hepatitis B to reduce the risk of further liver damage and liver cancer (HCC).
People chronically infected with hepatitis B can enjoy completely normal lives, but need to take some necessary precautions to avoid further liver damage and infecting others.
* Get the hepatitis A vaccine.
* Avoid drinking alcohol.
* Do not share toothbrushes, razors, injection or tattoo needles to avoid transmitting HepB to others because they may be tainted with blood.
* Ensure that all members of your household are tested and vaccinated if they are not already immunized.
* If you are uncertain whether your partner is protected, the proper use of latex condoms is recommended.
Pregnant women infected with hepatitis B must make sure the newborn receives hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIG) plus the first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine at birth, and then follow-up with the second dose at 1-2 months, and the third dose at 6 months. This will be 97% effective in protecting the newborn from becoming a carrier.
Take control of your own health, learn about the management and treatments available for hepatitis B.
Be well.

hello sir....I am a hbv patient had ultrasound test..
Result normal shape n size
no focal lession
spleen normal shape & size
can be cirrhosis even if results are normal??
please kindly suggest me..
Congratulations on your fight against AML and your stem cell transplants! You have been through a lot that is for sure!
I just want to reassure you that having a coarsened hepatic ecotexture seen on an ultrasound may not be something to be overly concerned about. Like with your cancer, seeing a specialist (in this case a Gastroenterologist (GI specialist) or Hepatologist (liver specialist) and having a proper exam and testing, then a diagnosis and if necessary any treatment is the key to good health.
A "coarsened hepatic echotexture" result on a ultrasound simply means the normally uniform smooth hepatic echotexture of a healthy liver has been lost. Whether this is a cause of concern will require more medical testing.
Note: that having a coarsened hepatic ecotexture does not mean you have extensive damage or cirrhosis of the liver which is the final stage of liver disease. In fact if you had cirrhosis obvious signs of cirrhosis would have been seen on the ultrasound and noted which you don't mention. So I would doubt that you have cirrhosis. Typical signs of cirrhosis that would be noted in the ultrasound report for someone with cirrhosis would be a "nodular liver", changes in size of portions of the liver, changes in size of the spleen and changes in the blood supply around the liver. And of course the report would say cirrhosis was found.
There are many causes of liver disease so you need to have tests to determine the cause and the extent of your liver disease.
For example fatty liver disease, various forms of hepatitis, chronic alcohol abuse, a number of hereditary diseases and many others. I would have though you would have been tested for many of these before or during your cancer diagnosis.
You should see a gastroenterologist if you are worried about liver disease. Only a doctor can diagnosis liver disease, determine the cause and determine the extent of the liver disease and prescribe proper treatment.
No diet (unless you have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease NAFLD)) or supplements or tea will will reverse liver disease. Only by stopping the underlying cause of your liver disease can it reverse itself.
One of the most common causes of coarsened hepatic ecotexture in the US is fatty liver disease. NAFLD is associated with metabolic risk factors such as obesity and diabetes mellitus. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) for most people, causes no signs and symptoms and no complications. But there is a form of NAFLD that can progress to cirrhosis so people should see a doctor to determine the type of NAFLD they have.
Please see a gastroenterologist if you are concerned.
Continued success with your cancer.
